The signatories join a panel of 41 public and private sector participants in solidifying their joint commitment to advancing the UAE’s sustainability agenda.
Inaugurated during the third edition of ADGM’s landmark initiative, the Abu Dhabi Sustainable Finance Forum (ADSFF), held during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, the Declaration saw its third round of signatories.
H.E. Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State and Chairman of ADGM, said: “It is encouraging to witness the growing influence of the Abu Dhabi Sustainable Finance Declaration and to welcome an additional five signatories. The panel, now comprising 41 signatories of the Declaration, has forged its commitment to furthering the UAE’s sustainability footprint and ensuring the longevity of the UAE’s economy and ADGM is proud to have championed this initiative. The need to place sustainable practices at the forefront of our collective strategic agendas has never been greater and we are unequivocally committed to charting a path of greater sustainability in service of the continued stability and growth of Abu Dhabi and the UAE.”
ADGM pioneered the Declaration as a physical representation of its commitment to collaborating with other prominent public and private entities in support of the UAE Vision 2021 and the UAE Green Agenda.
The Declaration outlines the efforts of all signatories toward creating a framework to foster positive economic, social and environmental impacts and advocate for sustainable finance and investments for the long-term well-being and growth of the economy of the UAE.
In an effort to actively encourage and integrate the implementation of ESG and sustainable finance practices within the UAE’s financial sector, the signatories of the Declaration will identify innovative sustainable measures, encourage educational opportunities regarding sustainability, raise awareness and encourage cooperation between the relevant stakeholders, and meet regularly to assess their relative progress.
