Earth Hour
The power of our hour.
Earth Hour is an iconic global grassroots movement that WWF International started in 2007 that involves switching off all non-essential electricity for an hour to raise awareness for climate change and biodiversity loss.
Last year alone, the moment of solidarity saw people from 192 countries and territories come together in support of people and our planet. We saw landmarks turn off their lights and supporters switch off at home, as well as a range of activities such as virtual concerts, mangrove planting, street clean-ups and virtual runs.
All Emirates switch-off.
Here in the UAE, Emirates Nature-WWF spearheads a comprehensive awareness campaign year-on-year. 2022 saw five million people in the UAE take part in Earth Hour, debut activities included a special ‘Switch Off Parade’ around the monumental site of Expo 2020, a unique ‘Nature at Night’ expedition for the intrepid and a ‘Go Beyond the Hour’ awards ceremony at Expo 2020 for government and corporate pioneers.
You don't have to wait until next year to continue making an impact. Take action each and every day to shape a brighter future for people and our planet.
