Background

Emirates Nature is a UAE environmental non-governmental charity, established in 2001 under the Honorary Founder and President H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan as a legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed’s vision for the United Arab Emirates. HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan is the Ruler’s representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of Environmental Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) Board of Directors.

We operate with offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah and are governed by a local board of directors. Emirates Nature works in association with WWF, one of the world’s largest and most respected independent conservation organizations. Emirates Nature-WWF has been active in the UAE for two decades and is renowned for its commitment to biodiversity conservation, habitat protection, sustainable development, and community engagement.

Some of our flagship projects include marine conservation initiatives to protect coral reefs and marine species, wildlife conservation programs focusing on endangered species such as Arabian oryx and sea turtles, habitat restoration projects in critical ecosystems, and sustainable development initiatives aimed at mitigating climate change impacts and promoting eco-friendly practices across various sectors.

Job Summary

We are in search of a proactive and detail-oriented Retail (with Marketing) Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in retail operations, social media management, and event participation. As a Retail Intern, you will assist in key areas such as inventory management, order fulfilment, social media marketing, and merchandise setup at events.

The selected individual will work closely with our Marketing & Merchandising Senior Officer to contribute to the development of a thriving merchandising income stream. This role involves daily involvement in various tasks, including conducting market research to stay abreast of current merchandise trends in the UAE, analyzing competitor strategies, proposing potential new merchandise designs, assisting in recording retail leads, event logistics, and monitoring the progress of existing merchandise partnerships.

Additionally, the intern will play a key role in supporting the creation of new marketing collateral, such as updated catalogues, newsletters, social media posts, and pitch decks. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to gain hands-on experience in the dynamic fields of marketing and retail while working alongside experienced professionals in the industry.

Major Duties and Key Responsibilities

  • Research: Conduct merchandising market research and analyze consumer trends to identify opportunities for brand growth and product development.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, help with restocking, and maintain organized inventory records. Ensure accurate product counts, and assist in the logistics of ordering new products.
  • Order Fulfillment & Processing: Assist in managing online orders by packaging, labelling, and shipping merchandise in a timely manner. Process customer orders and ensure efficient delivery.
  • Promotion: Assist in the creation and execution of merchandise marketing campaigns across various channels, including social media (primarily Instagram), but also email and digital advertising.
  • Instagram Management: Support WWF’s social media efforts by creating and posting content on Instagram. Engage with followers, highlight EN WWF merchandise, promote awareness, and respond to inquiries, helping to extend EN WWF’s reach. Use CapCut to create promotional videos, product showcases, and event highlights for social media and marketing purposes.
  • Event Assistance: Attend company events where merchandise is sold. Assist with setting up and managing the merchandise booth, engaging with customers, and processing sales during the events.
  • Merchandising: Assist in creating compelling and mission-aligned product displays, ensuring all WWF-branded merchandise is presented in an attractive and eco-friendly manner, both online and during events, as well as creating necessary design and communicating with suppliers.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor and report on the performance of merchandise initiatives, providing insights and recommendations for optimization. Assist in maintaining accurate sales records and providing reports on stock and sales performance. Ensure to update the merchandise inventory trackers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in retail, marketing or customer service is an added plus.

Education

  • Graduated from/or currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program, preferably in Marketing, Business Administration, Retail Management.
  • Fluency in English is essential.

Required Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic (desirable), with the ability to convey ideas effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with social media platforms.

  • Video Editing Skills: Experience with CapCut or similar video editing software to create high-quality marketing content.
  • Order Fulfilment Experience: Ability to manage orders from start to finish, ensuring a smooth and timely process.
  • CapCut Video Editing: Use CapCut to create promotional videos, product showcases, and event highlights for social media and marketing purposes.
