Water Efficiency

Water is a fundamental human need and a driver for sustainable growth.  People depend on water resources for drinking and household uses, recreation, agricultural and industrial uses.  To ensure water is available in the future it must be used efficiently and in accordance with good policies and regulations, supported by ongoing academic research. Water resources in UAE are under the governance of the Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Climate Change.
 

Irrigation management is essential for the date palm growth. Excess watering can lead to increase of pests including the red weevil, the spread of fungal diseases, nutrient deficiency, and delayed growth and fruit ripening. Water deficit leads to tree weakness, slow growth, flowering delay, small and poor-quality fruits.
 

Water means life. Lack of freshwater availability affects people and nature alike, and insufficient water supply poses a threat to the future of communities and ecosystems.
