THE ROAD TO COP28

A turning point for global action

COP28 will take place at Expo City Dubai from 30 November to December 12, 2023. Hosted by the UAE, the climate change conference will build on decades of global cooperation in addressing climate change.

This COP is especially important because it will see the results of the first Global Stocktake which assess the world’s collective progress towards the landmark Paris Agreement. While it is clear that we are not on the right track, the process will inform the outcomes on mitigation, adaptation, finance and more that will need to be delivered by all parties.

UAE leadership have announced their commitment to taking an ambitious, inclusive and solutions-oriented approach to its hosting of COP28.

Emirates Nature-WWF is working closely with governments, corporates, local communities, and stakeholders to ensure action is taken now to secure a resilient and safe future for people and nature. Through our projects and engagement work, we are actively advancing dialogue around climate action across sectors and stakeholders, positioning the UAE’s non-state actors at the forefront of efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and empowering civil society to contribute to the UAE’s low-carbon journey.

Corporate and Non-State Pillars

For non-state actors in the UAE, the next four months will be critical to partner with organizations to scale up our collective impact, to be even more ambitious in our plans, bring forward decarbonization timelines, and invest in nature and Nature-based Solutions.
